The win over Washington was notable for the continuing run of injuries which tests the depth of the New England Patriots offense. Starting running back Dion Lewis was lost for the season to a knee injury and left tackle Sebastian Vollmer was lost to a head injury (presumably a concussion per reports) during the game. Without Vollmer’s strong pass blocking and Lewis, the Patriots turned to a retro 2003/2004 look with a run-heavy and quick-pass offense and shut down Washington with an attacking, aggressive defense.
