Week twelve of the 2025 NFL season could go down in history as one of the better weeks of football in a 2025 season that seemingly has delivered a high level of excitement and minimized the weeks with dud match-up after dud match-up. This past week had a bit of everything to whet the appetite of the NFL fan.
The Texans kicked things off on Thursday Night Football harassing and pressuring Josh Allen and the stumbling Bills. Davis Mills did just enough for a Houston offense that is rounding into form as we barrel towards December.
The Steelers fell to the magical first-place Chicago Bears as Aaron Rodgers was out injured. The first place New England Patriots had fans searching online for "pyrrhic victory” as injuries mounted as they held off what could have been the last game of the illustrious and sometimes elite career of Joe Flacco.
The NFC North favorite Lions and Packers added wins trying to keep up with the Bears (“I’ll take ‘Sentences I did not plan to write in 2025’ for $1000, Alex.”) with the Lions mounting an “Alcoa presents: Fantastic Finishes” come from behind win over the pesky Giants and Jameis Winston.
In a game nowhere as close as the score, Seattle beat Cam Ward and the Titans 30-24. The Ravens did not look cohesive on offense, but fortunately for them they were playing the Jets and won handily. In the Heavyweight Bout, the Colts abandoned the aggressiveness that got them to first place in the AFC South and meekly punted away multiple times including overtime as they fell to the Chiefs 23-20.
In the late window the highlighted game featured the World Champion Eagles beating up their division rival Cowboys 21-0 before the wheels fell off in the Big D and Dallas and Dak stormed back for a 24-21 win. The Raiders inched closer to a top draft pick losing to Shadeur Sanders and the Browns. The Saints improved their draft position losing to NFC South compatriots and potential top-ten pickers the Falcons.
On Sunday night, the reeling Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran into a brick wall called the Rams’ impressive front seven but the secondary was the star of the show in prime time. Finally, on Monday Night Football, the Panthers may not have lost their heart in San Francisco, but they forgot to pack their offense as Brock Purdy threw three first half interceptions and San Francisco still won handily 20-9.
What a week that was! Now onto this week to see if we can top the entertainment level in week thirteen.
Thanksgiving is upon us and what a day for watching football. The Lions have become relevant in the Dan Campbell era and a must-watch in the early window while still elbowing family members away from my blueberry pie. It’s a full-on century old grudge match as the Packers face-off in a game with huge divisional impact
